Dr. Mandy Simmons Duty
Dr. Mandy Simmons Duty is a native of Odenville, AL and graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in biological sciences from the University of Alabama in 2008. She received her Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry. At UAB she served as Class President and was a member of Beta Sigma Kappa and Golden Key International Honor Society. Dr. Duty completed her Residency in Geriatric and Low Vision Rehabilitation at the Birmingham Veterans Administration Medical Center and is a board-certified optometrist. Following optometry school graduation she served for 7 years as an active duty optometrist in the United States Air Force and continues to proudly serve in the United States Air Force Reserves.
Prior to joining Alabama Eye Partners, she worked for a busy comprehensive eye care practice in Montgomery, AL. Dr. Duty has extensive experience working with the veteran, geriatric, pediatric, and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) populations and is highly trained in routine eye care and the treatment and management of ocular and corneal diseases. She is a member of the American Optometric Association and is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry.
Dr. Duty loves spending time with her husband Jonathan, their oldest son Max (9), and their twins Alexa and Jackson (7). In her spare time, you can find her on the lake, fishing, boating, or at the ball fields with her children. She's also a sports fanatic and spends every chance she gets at various sports events.
